Vignettes of Araku Valley

Araku Valley situated in the Eastern Ghats near Visakhapatnam is one of the most picturesque places in Andhra Pradesh. Surrounded by verdant hills and forests it has retained much of its natural beauty. Several tribes have lived here for ages and many tribal communities are gradually changing over to modern way of life.

Internationally honoured photographer, B Rajan Babu, FRPS, has been photographing and documenting the lives of the people of Araku Valley for last several decades now. His work has been published as a portfolio, “Adavi Poolu, the Poetic Visuals of B Rajan Babu.” ‘Adavi Poolu’ in Telugu means “Forest Flower.” We bring here a select few photographs from this publication.

Writing about his work, another noted photographer, T N A Perumal, FRPS, says, “Rajan Babu is a gem among the traditional pictorialists of our country. His profound technical mastery of black and white medium is impeccable and of a high standard, in par with well-known international peers of the medium. He is both an extraordinary artist and extraordinary craftsman. His prints are a delight for experience.”

Profile of Rajan Babu can be viewed by clicking on his name at top right corner of this screen.
