Chinu Modi was born on Sep 30, 1939. An influential poet, he was the leader of the aggressive facet of modernist movement in Gujarati poetry. He is also prominent as a pioneer of avant-garde writing and staging of plays, along with Labhshankar Thakar.

Several collections of his poetry, ghazals, plays and stories have been published.
