Uday Prakash's Profile

Born in a small village of Madhya Pradesh in 1952, Uday Prakash lost his parents in his early childhood. He completed his education with excellent academic records. During his teaching assignment in Jawaharlal Nehru University, he lived two years in Imphal, the capital city of turbulent Manipur. He was Officer on Special Duty in Department of Culture, Govt. of M.P. before joining Times of India’s reputed Hindi news weekly Dinmaan for 9 years. He was senior Assistant editor of Sunday Mail and editor of a English monthly Eminence for some time. From academic to Journalism and Translations to Film making, Uday Prakash has a vast spectrum of experience and is seen as one of the most popular as well as controversial writers in Hindi. His works are widely translated in all Major Indian and foreign languages.

At present Uday Prakash is a freelance writer and filmmaker. Uday Prakash has been honoured with many awards that include the Bharat Bhusan Agrawal Puraskar, the Shrikant Verma Award, the Pahal Samman, and the Sahityakaar Samman. He participated in International Poetry Festival, Rotterdam in 2004 as a poet and traveled to Germany.
