A contemporary Bengali poet, credited with heralding a paradigm change and establishing a new trend in post-modern Bengali literature, Amitabha Chaudhury was born in erstwhile East Bengal, and migrated to India as a child. He studied engineering and management and held positions as CEO in multinational companies.
Poet, Essayist, and Critic, he writes both in Bengali and English. He has published several volumes of poetry and essays. He has also translated Aeschelus, Pablo Neruda and the South American poets, Rilka and others, into Bengali. He was also a guest editor for a volume of Black American poetry in Bengali translation. He is the editor of a bilingual poetry magazine, Kovita Review and has represented Bengali and Indian literature in various national and international conferences. His collection of stories in English will soon be published.
Chaudhury is the receipient of ‘Rastriya Gaurav Award’, awarded by All India Achievers Conference, ‘Bharat Excellence Award’ awarded by Friends of India Forum, and ‘Samajshree Award’ awarded by All India Managers Conference.
